Popeyes Fried Chicken Sandwich Is Back

(RTTNews) - The much-awaited fried chicken sandwich from Popeyes returned to restaurants across the United States. The $3.99 chicken sandwich, which comes in classic and spicy, was reintroduced from Sunday, November 3, which happens to be the National Sandwich day.

The fast food chain debuted the popular item at its more than 3,000 restaurants in August, but it was sold out in two weeks much to the despair of its fans. This time, it came back as a permanent item. The company tweeted, "This is not a drill... We're fully stocked".

The crispy chicken sandwich comes with a buttermilk battered and breaded white meat chicken filet, topped with pickles and classic mayo or spicy Cajun spread on a buttery, toasted brioche bun.

The return of Popeyes' highly popular sandwich created chaos nationwide as customers rushed to the nearby stores. As per social media posts, long lines were seen in front of several restaurants even before stores' opening.

CNN Business quoted Bruno Cardinali, head of marketing for North America at Popeyes, as saying, "We plan to offer it to our guests for a long time. We are confident that we'll be able to meet the demand."

The fans were demanding the return of the product after the initial sale was closed abruptly.

Popeyes reportedly stabilized its supply chain for the sandwich, and hired more employees for the relaunch.

Incidentally, the sandwich was brought back on a Sunday as its rival Chick-fil-A is closed.

Earlier, the August debut of Popeyes' sandwich had created a Fried Chicken Sandwich War on Twitter among Popeyes, Chick-fil-A, and Wendy's.

A week after the product was launched, Popeyes responded to a tweet from Chick-fil-A and the reply went viral. Wendy's too jumped in, triggering a Twitter battle on whose chicken sandwich is the best.
