Point72 Asset Management Discloses 5.3% Stake In Chimerix

(RTTNews) - The shares of Chimerix Inc. (CMRX) jumped after asset-management company Point72 Asset Management, L.P, which was founded by Steve Cohen, disclosed a 5.3 percent stake in the company.

CMRX closed Wednesday trading at $8.35, up $0.98 or 13.30%. In the after-hours trading, the stock further gained $0.32 or 3.83%.

Chimerix lost about 80 percent of its value on Monday after its Phase 3 SUPPRESS trial of brincidofovir in patients undergoing hematopoietic cell transplantation or HCT did not achieve its primary endpoint for the prevention of clinically significant cytomegalovirus or CMV infection through Week 24 after transplant.
