Physicians Meet in Historic Charleston to Study Physician Burnout, Clinical Updates, and Diagnostic Strategies
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Sept. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Southern Medical Association (SMA) will hold its Annual Scientific Assembly at the Charleston Marriott in Charleston, South Carolina, October 31-November 1, 2018. The goal of this year's Assembly is to provide evidence-based strategies, up-to-date information about updated clinical guidelines, and diagnostic strategies. Additionally, a large focus will address the well-being of clinicians and tools to assist with effective wellness interventions as a way of integrating a culture of wellness into a work unit.
Conference attendees will receive up to 13.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM designed to meet their medical licensing or professional requirements. The conference, chaired by Dr. Donald DiPette of Columbia, South Carolina, incorporates adult learning methods including didactic lecture presentation supported by practical cases. "Physicians learn more and can more easily apply their learning to practice when real-life, difficult case presentations lead the way to understanding," according to Dr. DiPette.
Dr. DiPette is currently the Health Sciences Distinguished Professor at the University of South Carolina and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina. Conference lectures will focus on Physician Burnout and Physician Leadership as well as clinical topics which include Cardiopulmonary and Cardiovascular Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Orthopedics.
As conference chair, Dr. DiPette has assembled a world-class faculty of experienced, practicing physicians including keynote speaker Marc G. Jaffe, MD, the Senior Vice President of the Resolve to Save 100 Million Lives Cardiovascular Health Initiative.
