PetMed Express Q1 Profit Rises - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - PetMed Express Inc. (PETS) reported that its first-quarter net income was $4.8 million, or $0.24 per share, up from $4.0 million, or $0.20 per share in the year ago quarter.

Net sales for the quarter were $74.2 million, compared to $69.0 million last year, an increase of 7.6%.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.22 per share and revenues of $69.85 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

New order sales increased by 9.6%, from $13.9 million to $15.2 million for the quarters ended June 30, 2012 and 2013, respectively.

The company said it is focusing on improving its advertising efficiency and continuing to expand its product offerings for the remainder of fiscal 2014.
