Oregon Fruit Products Limited Release: Red Currant Aseptic Puree
SALEM, Ore., Dec. 4, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Oregon Fruit Products LLC today released a new limited-edition Fruit for Fermentation puree: Red Currant. The seedless, smooth puree comes in shelf-stable packaging, enhances and blends easily into a wide variety of fermented and distilled beverages for a tart and refreshing flavor, similar to cranberry or red tart cherry.
Sour beers and ciders have been rising in popularity in the U.S., with consumers seeking more variety of piquant flavors. Brewers are meeting these changing tastes by using fruit to add complexity, tartness and balance to richer and earthier flavor notes, a time-tested European tradition. Brightly colored red currants are on trend: juicy, low in natural sugar and high in acidity, ideal for adding sour dimension to a fermented beverages including beer, cider, mead, spirits, wine, and kombucha.

In addition to complementing fruited ciders and kettle sours, Hodge foresees the puree working well with light and dark brews alike, from blond ales and wheat beers to darker porters and stouts.
Like all Oregon Fruit Purees, Red Currant is 100 percent fruit, with no added sugar or preservatives, and is packaged aseptically for shelf-stability and ease of use.
