Online Auction to Settle Score Between Two American Classics
CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- It's a battle more than 50 years in the making. The title fight has been set and it's time to choose sides.
Which corner are you in? Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro?
Classic car collectors and muscle car fans will be able to prove their allegiance on Friday, May 26, when Speed Digital partners with Hemmings and Proxibid to bring collectors and enthusiasts the first of a series of monthly themed, timed online auctions – the HemmingsPRO Auctions in partnership with Speed Digital.
The first auction, Mustangs vs. Camaros, will help determine which American classic is more popular. The auction, which includes Mustangs and Camaros from every decade (1964-2017), has already begun and interested buyers can bid at http://hemmings.speeddigital.com. The timed auction will begin closing at 8 p.m. EST on May 26.
All inventory will be provided by dealers within Speed Digital's Dealer Accelerate network; therefore, buyers can rest assured they're purchasing cars from reputable dealers.
"We look forward to bringing this unique auction format to millions of Mustang and Camaro fans," said Neil Pitt, president of Speed Digital. "It will be exciting to see which fan base has a stronger showing. Will a Mustang or Camaro bring in the highest winning bid? Will more Mustangs find new homes or will it be Camaros? Only time will tell, but it will be fun to watch it all unfold on May 26."
A 2017 Petty's Garage King Premier Edition Mustang with no reserve will be auctioned off at 7 p.m. during the live auction with proceeds benefiting charity. The customized car, powered by a supercharged 5.0L V-8 engine producing 825 HP, will come in the Petty's Garage signature limited "ghost series" black and silver paint scheme and be signed by "The King" himself, Richard Petty.
The Petty's Garage Mustang won't be the only vehicle drawing interest during the Mustangs vs. Camaros online auction. You would be hard-pressed to find more premier Mustangs and Camaros in another auction. Two of the most sought-after vehicles that will have bidders reaching for their wallets include a 1969 Ford Mustang (estimated to go between $236,000 and $355,000 at the auction) and a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro COPO ($133,000-$187,000).
Other cars that should ignite bidding wars are a 1968 Shelby GT500 ($133,000-$187,000), 1968 Shelby GT350 ($104,000-$140,000), 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 ($99,000-$134,000) and 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS ($90,000-$122,000).
