Nu Skin Q3 Profit Falls, Sees Q4 Results Below View - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc. (NUS), a developer of anti-aging personal care products and nutritional supplements, Wednesday said third-quarter net income declined to $68.31 million from $110.90 million in the previous year.

Net income per share fell to $1.12 from $1.80. On average, seven analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.92 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenue declined to $638.80 million from $908.3 million in the prior year that included $203 million in sales from the company's limited-time introduction of its ageLOC TR90 weight management system. Analysts expected revenues of $629.25 million.

Truman Hunt, president and CEO, said, "Our sales results are heavily impacted by our product launch schedule. Last year's second-half launch, which generated approximately $550 million in sales, provides a difficult year-over-year comparison. However, excluding product launch sales, the core business has stabilized and is trending positively sequentially."

The company said its business in China is stabilizing as it is seeing improving trends in the early sales leader pipeline.

The company anticipates fourth-quarter revenue of $590 million to $610 million, with earnings per share of $0.72 to $0.77. Earnings per share for the fourth quarter will be negatively impacted $0.08 by a pre-payment fee in connection with the refinancing of debt.

Analysts look for quarterly earnings of $1.01 per share on revenues of $658.49 million.

The stock, which closed down 3.5 percent at $50.42 on Tuesday, fell 11.6 percent in pre-market activity.
