NextEra Energy Q4 Profit Rises, But Misses View; Affirms 2015 Outlook

(RTTNews) - Clean energy firm NextEra Energy, Inc. (NEE) reported fourth-quarter net income attributable to the company of $884 million or $2.00 per share, up from $327 million, or $0.75 per share reported last year.

On an adjusted basis, NextEra Energy's earnings were $458 million or $1.03 per share, compared to $414 million or $0.95 per share, in the year-ago period. On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $1.07 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For fiscal 2015, NextEra Energy continues to expect adjusted earnings per share of $5.40 to $5.70. Analysts expect earnings of $5.31 per share for the year.

The company now expects fiscal 2016 adjusted earnings in the range of $5.75 to $6.25 per share, up from the prior range of $5.50 to $6.00 per share. Analysts currently expect earnings of $5.64 per share.
