Newfield Exploration Turns To Profit In Q3 - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Newfield Exploration Co. (NFX) Monday reported a third-quarter net income of $27 million or $0.05 per share, compared to net loss of $33 million or $0.24 per share in the prior year quarter.

Loss from continuing operations narrowed to $4 million or $0.03 per share from $82 million or $0.61 per share in the comparable quarter last year.

Excluding items and including earnings from discontinued international operations, net income for the third quarter of 2013 would have been $95 million, or $0.70 per share.

On average, 24 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.51 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenues for the quarter dropped to $486 million from $371 million in the prior-year quarter. Fourteen analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $569.43 million for the quarter.
