    HANNOVER, GERMANY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 2005--

Intellon and NETGEAR at CeBIT Showcasing Higher Bandwidth Performance; Driving Next-Generation Home Entertainment Applications

Intellon Corporation, the world leader in powerline communications, and NETGEAR(R), Inc. (NASDAQ: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, today announced that they are teaming to deliver among the first solutions based on Intellon's 85Mbps powerline networking chipset for high speed powerline networking. Intellon's INT5500CS chipset enables the 85 Mbps Wall-Plugged Ethernet Bridge to offer speeds exceeding that of 802.11g wireless. The companies will showcase the new technology at CeBIT 2005 in Intellon's stand, located in Hall 14, Stand H13.
Intellon's INT5500CS and NETGEAR's new solutions will open up a new range of opportunities in multimedia networking for consumers. Utilizing faster powerline communications, consumers will now be able to enjoy applications requiring higher bandwidth, such as standard definition video distribution, TV over IP (IPTV), Voice over IP (VoIP), multi-room digital video recorder (DVR) networking and content distribution through media center PCs. With a maximum transfer rate at 85Mbps over the powerline, consumers can also use the solutions to complement their Wi-Fi networks by sharing audio throughout the house, participating in multiplayer or online gaming, and share higher data-rate broadband internet access.
"The focus of HomePlug is moving beyond just data sharing to include multimedia networking," said Kartik Gada, NETGEAR product line manager. "NETGEAR has worked closely with Intellon to bring HomePlug 1.0 14Mbps Ethernet adapters to market, providing end-users with simple, reliable broadband connectivity to every power outlet in the home, enhancing their digital home experience with such applications as WiFi extension, online gaming, whole-house audio distribution and security monitoring. With the new 85Mbps technology, we continue to enhance the consumer experience by adding more speed so they can enjoy video anywhere in the home."
"The home networking market is witnessing a trend in the growing need among consumers to connect multiple digital entertainment devices to create that ideal digital home," said Ron Glibbery, president of Intellon. "The new Intellon-enabled 85Mbps solutions from NETGEAR provide consumers with a robust networking backbone that enables them to share standard definition video and whole-house audio without the hassle of running new wires. Our continuing partnership with NETGEAR further demonstrates the demand for a faster powerline communications technology, as well as the advancement of powerline communications into the mainstream."
