Monsanto Co. Profit Rises 173% In Q4

(RTTNews) - Monsanto Co. (MON) announced earnings for its fourth quarter that rose compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line climbed to $82 million, or $0.20 per share. This was higher than $30 million, or $0.07 per share, in last year's fourth quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn -$0.41 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 5.1% to $2.69 billion. This was up from $2.56 billion last year.
