Monotype Imaging Brings FlipFont to Samsung Android-Powered Mobile Phones, Beginning with Galaxy S

Monotype Imaging Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: TYPE), a leading global provider of text imaging solutions, has announced that its FlipFont^™ mobile font download application will be included in a range of mobile devices from Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. that are expected to ship in 2010. Samsung’s Galaxy S, introduced last month at CTIA Wireless 2010, is the first product to feature FlipFont as an embedded application and provide users with the ability to enhance their mobile experience with fonts.

Samsung’s Galaxy S also represents the first mobile phone ever to integrate FlipFont as a built-in application. In addition, the device becomes the first FlipFont-supported phone based on the Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android^™ mobile platform.

Monotype Imaging’s FlipFont application provides the ability to preview, select, license and download type from an online selection of mobile-optimized fonts from Monotype Imaging’s renowned Monotype^®, Linotype^® and ITC^® typeface collections. Users activate downloaded fonts for use on supported phones, enabling the display of menus and various applications in the chosen font. Users of supported Android-powered mobile phones from Samsung will have direct access to a selection of mobile-optimized fonts through Google’s Android Marketplace.
