Millennial Net and Freescale to Deliver Industrial-Strength Wireless Sensor Networks; Scalable to Hundreds of Nodes, MeshScape Offers Low-Power, Robust Wireless Solution

Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE:FSL) (NYSE:FSL.B) andMillennial Net announced a strategic partnership that will help OEMsrapidly develop and deploy wireless mesh network solutions for large, complex commercial applications in industrial automation, healthcareand military/homeland defense markets. Millennial Net will sell, integrate and support MeshScape(TM) wireless sensor networking systemon Freescale's MC1319x platform.

Millennial Net's MeshScape scales to hundreds of nodes and hasdeployed numerous large-scale industrial-class wireless networks. Thecombination of Freescale's robust set of RF transceivers with thefield-proven reliability of MeshScape's mesh networking system enablesorganizations to have a configuration that is best suited for theirspecific application needs.

"Millennial Net's MeshScape complements Freescale's ZigBee(TM)offering and allows us to address a wider variety of customerrequirements," said Brett Black, commercial wireless manager ofFreescale's Wireless and Mobile Systems Group. "Our customers now havemore choices and greater flexibility in developing wireless networksthat meet their cost, performance and time-to-market needs."

"We've brought together a leader in deployed sensor networks witha leader in communications processors and radio-frequency powerproducts," said Neil Ferris, Millennial Net executive chairman. "Thisensures that companies looking to implement industrial-class wirelesssensor networks have access to the technology and systems they need tobe successful."

Coupled with Freescale's MC1319X platform, MeshScape's solutiondraws a minimal amount of power and in some cases can be powered bysolar energy. This delivers a complete low power, scalable wirelesssolution. MeshScape will be offered as a network system softwarelicense allowing complete integration of the mesh networking softwareonto sensor nodes at a competitive system price. Millennial Net willoffer MeshScape and Freescale's MC1319x platform as a completesolution for select customer applications in early Q3 2005 and makethem generally available in Q4 2005.
