Make Soda At Home With Keurig Kold
(RTTNews) - Personal beverage system maker Keurig Green Mountain, Inc. (GMCR) is betting that you'll want to make your favorite cold sodas at home after the resounding success of its single-cup hot coffee and tea brewing systems.
Keurig Green Mountain announced Tuesday the launch of Keurig KOLD system, the first cold beverage system that allows consumers to freshly make cold sparkling and still beverages at home at the push of a button. These include favorite beverages from the stable of Coca-Cola Co. (KO) and Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. (DPS).
"Keurig has redefined the way consumers enjoy coffee and tea in their homes and offices and today with the launch of Keurig KOLD, we're embarking on a new journey that will change the way consumers enjoy cold beverages at home," said Brian Kelley, President and CEO of Keurig.
The Keurig KOLD system will enable consumers for the first time to actually make a Coca-Cola, a Dr Pepper, a Diet Coke, a Canada Dry and other beverages on their kitchen counter.
The new Keurig KOLD system is available to order on Keurig.com from today and will be sold at select retailers both online and in six cities beginning in October, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and New York.
The Keurig KOLD drinkmaker is available at a price of $369.99 in either white or black, and comes with a set of two Keurig KOLD drinkmaker glasses. Meanwhile, The KOLD pods are available at a price range of $4.49 to $4.99 for a four-count box, along with additional drinkmaker accessories.
Each pod contain a syrup for a specific soda such as Coca-Cola, Sprite, or Fanta. It will also include pods for Craft Sodas, Iced Teas, Seltzers, Flavored Water, Sports Hydration Drinks, Cocktail Mixers and more in future.
The company noted that the strong collaboration of beverage brand partners such as Coca Cola and Dr Pepper Snapple will strengthen the appeal of Keurig KOLD.
Meanwhile, it could also take advantage of Coca Cola's marketing strengths and global distribution capabilities in the years to come as it looks to expand the reach of Keurig KOLD beyond North America.
However, Keurig may be taking a bigger risk than some would imagine, as soda consumption in the U.S. has been steadily declining since 2005, according to data from Euromonitor International.
