Lucent Technologies Signs Exclusive Reseller Agreement with Wantel in China's Oil and Gas Industry The Agreement Covers Lucent's Multi Product Range Including Optical, Data and VoIP Offerings
Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) today announced that it has signed an exclusive reseller agreement with Shanghai Wantel Electronic Equipment Co., Ltd, a Lucent Business Partner, to sell sophisticated new communications sytems to China's oil and gas companies. Lucent's solutions will help the customers optimize the communication systems used for the data acquisition, video monitoring and video conferencing, and control and command systems that serve daily production and operations.
Wantel will become the exclusive reseller of Lucent's optical, data, and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) offerings to companies in China's oil and gas industry including China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec Corp.), China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC).
"China's growing businesses represent an exciting new opportunity for Lucent, because of the advanced communications technology we offer. We believe that we have the technology they need to help them improve their efficiency by improving the flow of communications and data throughout their organizations," said Gaylord Huang, executive vice president, Business Partner and Software Sales, Lucent Technologies China, and president, Lucent Technologies Qingdao. "By working with Wantel, we will be able to help China's oil and gas industry to leverage our carrier-class products and services tailored for their unique needs to give them a competitive edge."
The agreement builds on Lucent's successful cooperation with Wantel on the Southwest Products Pipeline Communications System of Sinopec Corporation announced in June 2004. Lucent supplied the Metropolis(R) ADM MultiService Mux and WaveStar(R) ITM-SC network management system to help Sinopec meet its communications needs. Wantel has a sales and support network that spans China and extensive experience in meeting the needs of local industrial markets, while Lucent offers a full-range of network equipment with cutting-edge technologies.
"We worked so well together on the Sinopec project and are looking forward to brining that same collaboration and expertise to projects throughout China," said Chen Hong, executive vice president, Shanghai Wantel Electronic Equipment Co., Ltd. "We believe we can help China's critical energy companies become more efficient in how they collect and move information, and that will enable them to do an even better job of meeting the needs of their customers."
Lucent VoIP solutions for enterprises can help enterprises increase operational efficiency, improve network reliability and security; simplify network administration, and improve disaster recovery operations.
Lucent's Optical Networking portfolio stretches from the metro to the core and includes the Metropolis(R) portfolio, deployed by over 100 customers worldwide, the LambdaUnite(R) MultiService switch, and the LambdaXtreme(R) Transport.
