Logitech Delivers Record Q1 Sales and Profit; Sales up 18%, Net Income up 35%

Logitech International (SWX:LOGN) (Nasdaq:LOGI) todayannounced record Q1 sales and profit, posting its thirty-firstconsecutive quarter of double-digit revenue growth. Sales for thefirst quarter of Fiscal Year 2007, ended June 30, 2006, were $393million, up 18 percent from $335 million for the same quarter one yearago.

Beginning with Q1 FY 2007, in accordance with U.S. GenerallyAccepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Logitech has adopted Statementof Financial Accounting Standards No.123R (SFAS 123R). The Company'sGAAP results now include the costs of stock-based compensation. Areconciliation between GAAP and non-GAAP results is provided in atable as part of the attached financial statements.

For Q1, GAAP operating income was $23.8 million, including $5.1million in costs for stock-based compensation. GAAP net income for Q1,including $4.2 million in costs for stock-based compensation (net ofrelated tax benefit), was $30.1 million ($0.16 per share). Net incomeduring the first quarter also included a gain of $6.6 million on thesale of shares of Anoto Group AB.

Non-GAAP operating income, which excludes stock-basedcompensation, was $28.9 million, up 15 percent from last year'soperating income of $25.2 million. Non-GAAP net income for Q1 was$34.4 million ($0.18 per share), up 53 percent compared with netincome of $22.4 million ($0.12 per share) in the prior year. Non-GAAPgross margin was 30.9 percent, compared to 32.1 percent for the samequarter last year.

Logitech's retail sales for the quarter grew by 20 percent, withgrowth in all regions, led by 30 percent growth in the Americas.Retail sales were driven by continued strong growth in video products(up 56 percent), remote controls (up 122 percent) and audio products(up 23 percent). Retail sales of cordless products increased by 18percent, with growth in both cordless mice and cordless desktops. TheCompany's OEM sales grew by 4 percent.

"With our solid performance in Q1, Logitech is on track to achieveour financial goals for FY 2007," said Guerrino De Luca, the Company'spresident and chief executive officer. "We saw continued strong retailsales growth in Q1 -- including our projected return to growth in thecordless category. As we anticipated, gross margin for the quarter wasbelow our long-term target range of 32-34 percent; we expect to seesubstantial sequential and year-over-year improvement in gross marginin Q2 as we roll out a range of exciting new products, many withmargins higher than those of the products being replaced. A new lineupof webcams, announced earlier this week, should sustain our leadershipin video communications, and during the next few months, we'llannounce the rest of our portfolio for this holiday season, includinga breakthrough in high-performance mice and a range of products forVoIP and notebook users."

Outlook

Logitech confirmed its targets for the current fiscal year, endingMarch 31, 2007. The Company expects sales and non-GAAP operatingincome to grow 15 percent, year over year. Gross margin is expected tobe at the low end of the Company's long-term targeted range of 32-34percent, but slightly higher compared with FY 2006, due to anticipatedupside in the second half of FY 2007 following new-productintroductions. Non-GAAP operating income excludes the cost ofstock-based compensation. The net cost of stock-based compensation forFY 2007, reflected in net income, is expected to be between $16 and$19 million.
