Level 3 Communications Q3 Profit Beats View - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Network services provider Level 3 Communications, Inc. (LVLT) Wednesday reported third-quarter net earnings of $85 million or $0.35 per share, compared with a loss of $21 million or $0.09 per share last year.

On average, 16 analysts polled by Thomson-Reuters estimated the company's earnings to be $0.31 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Quarterly revenues grew to $1.629 billion from $1.569 billion a year ago, while analysts expected it to be $1.63 billion.

Commenting on the outlook, Sunit Patel, CFO of Level 3 said: "On a standalone basis, and excluding the effects from the tw telecom acquisition, we remain confident in our ability to achieve our outlook for the full year 2014."
