Lawson Signs Retail Insight Contract with Safeway Applications Will Help Grocery Retailer Better Understand Buying Behavior to Inform Both Product and Marketing Operations
Lawson Software (Nasdaq:LWSN) signed a contract with Safeway Inc. in Lawson's third quarter of fiscal 2005, which ended Feb. 28, 2005. The grocery chain licensed Lawson's Retail InSight software to support its product management and marketing goals by enabling Safeway to better understand the buying patterns of consumers based on macro-data on cross-category buying on different types of shopping trips.
Safeway Inc. is one of the largest food and drug retailers in North America with 1,802 stores in the United States and Canada. In support of its stores, Safeway also operates an extensive network of distribution, manufacturing and food processing facilities.
