L-3 Communications Acquires Magnet-Motor GmbH

L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that itacquired Magnet-Motor GmbH on March 20, 2006. The terms of thetransaction were not disclosed. The business has been renamed L-3Communications Magnet-Motor (L-3 Magnet-Motor) and will report intoL-3's Products Group, which is part of the company's SpecializedProducts reportable segment. The business is expected to contributeapproximately $7 million to L-3's sales in 2006.

Headquartered in Starnberg, Germany, L-3 Magnet-Motor is a worldleader in the development, manufacture and field support of high-techelectric and energy systems for propulsion. The company offers systemsfor a broad array of platforms, including wheeled and tracked combatvehicles, commercial buses and marine vessels. The company alsospecializes in electric propulsion systems for the energy industry,including energy storage, energy conversion, windmill generators,DC/AC converters and inverters.

With advanced engineering capabilities which includeelectromechanical, electromagnetic, thermal calculations,microprocessor control and power electronics, L-3 Magnet-Motor offershighly compact power electronics for propulsion and powertransformation.
