King Oaks Community Applauds Unanimous Vote Against Proposed Reservoir

Bluegreen Communities®, developer of King Oaks, a top-rated master-planned community in the Bryan-College Station area, is pleased to announce its support of Region H Water Planning Group’s unanimous vote to remove the proposed Millican Reservoir Project off of its ballot for long-term plans. According to the Guardians of the Navasota River, the proposed Millican Reservoir Project would have flooded over 71,000 acres in the Navasota River bottom, encompassing parts of Robertson, Grimes, Brazos, Leon and Madison Counties. This vote marks a victory for opponents of the Millican Reservoir Project, which would have displaced thousands of residents.

"This vote is a major step in the right direction to permanently protect the river and surrounding areas,” said Barry Denton, Director of the South Texas Division for Bluegreen Communities. The Guardians of the Navasota River are continuing to collect signatures and are working towards having the river permanently protected which would block it from being re-instated on the ballot in five years.
