Kia Motors America August Sales Up 4% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Kia Motors America, a unit of Kia Motors Corp. (KIMTF.PK) Wednesday reported August sales of 52,025 units, up 4% from 50,028 units in the same period last year.

With 15,199 units sold, up from 13,949 units last year, the Optima midsize sedan led Kia's sales for the 21st consecutive month and the Sorento CUV enjoyed sales of 10,568 vehicles.

Rio sales increased to 3,862 units from 3,602 units last year, while Forte sales dropped to 6,469 units from 7,300 units last year.

The Sportage sales rose to 3,140 units from 3,097 units in the same month last year, while the Soul urban passenger vehicle recorded monthly sales of 10,017 units, down from 10,191 units sold last year.

"Our award-winning products deliver on Kia's promise to combine world-class design with cutting-edge technologies and premium amenities, and with the all-new Soul scheduled to arrive in showrooms soon, our sales momentum is poised to continue through the end of the year," said Byung Mo Ahn, group president and CEO of KMA and Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia.
