Joe Roberts, CFO of Max Capital Group, Talks to The Wall Street Transcript

The Wall Street Transcript has published an in-depth interview with Joe Roberts, CFO of Max Capital Group (NASDAQ:MXGL), in which he talks at length about the Company. The entire 2,500 word interview is available free online at http://www.twst.com/ceos.htm. Max Capital Group provides a wide range of niche and specialty insurance and reinsurance products for corporations, public entities, property and casualty insurers and life and health insurers. The company expects to create value by generating an underwriting profit and by utilizing an investment strategy that combines investment in traditional high-grade fixed income securities, tailored to the underlying insurance liabilities, with an allocation to alternative investment classes. When asked about the company’s earnings, Mr. Roberts stated, "Our 2007 earnings produced an ROE of 20.4% — an ROE above 16.5% for the fourth time in the past five years, with only the 2005 KRW hurricane year falling below that level, yet still returning a small profit. We believe we are well positioned to continue that success in the future.” In comments regarding assessment of the company as a long-term investment, Mr. Roberts stated, "Financial and insurance stocks in general appear to have been adversely affected by investor concerns over the sub-prime crisis, even though many companies in this group have suffered little direct impact. I believe Max falls in this latter sub-group and that investors may wish to position themselves to benefit from a potential resurgence in insurance stocks as the credit crisis is resolved and investor concerns about it subside.” The Wall Street Transcript does not endorse the views of any interviewees, nor does it make stock recommendations.
