Jack In The Box Q2 Results Top Estimates

(RTTNews) - Jack in the Box Inc. (JACK) reported net earnings for the second quarter of $23.0 million or $0.60 per share, compared to $15.8 million or $0.37 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Earnings from continuing operations for the second quarter was $23.4 million or $0.61 per share, compared to $18.3 million or $0.43 per share in the prior year quarter.

Operating earnings per share, defined as earnings per share from continuing operations excluding restructuring charges and gains or losses from refranchising, were $0.69 in the second quarter, compared to $0.51 in the second quarter of last year.

Revenue for the second quarter rose to $358.12 million from $340.87 million a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.67 per share on revenue of $356.14 million for the second quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company also said that on May 7, its Board of Directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.30 per share, payable on June 12 to shareholders of record on June 1. This is an increase of 50% from the company's previous quarterly dividend of $0.20 per share.

The company now expects fiscal year 2015 operating earnings to be $2.90 to $3.00 per share, compared to its prior guidance of $2.85 to $2.97 per share. The latest guidance includes the expected $0.06 charge relating to the replacement of beverage equipment. Analysts currently expect the company to earn $2.96 per share for the fiscal year 2015.
