Ixia Teams with EANTC to Demonstrate Carrier Network Interoperability at MPLS & Ethernet World Congress 2010
Ixia (NASDAQ:XXIA), a leading, global provider of converged IP performance test systems, today announced that it will team with EANTC to demonstrate various carrier multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) functionality and interoperability tests at this year’s MPLS & Ethernet World Congress. The demonstration will be held in the Interop booth from February 10-12, and highlights multi-vendor interoperability for a number of important MPLS multicast and VPN technologies.
Ixia used its IxNetwork application to demonstrate interoperability with other participants’ equipment in key test areas including BGP-based auto discovery for VPLS, point-to-multipoint RSVP-TE, layer 3 multicast VPNs, Y.1731 performance monitoring, MPLS to the access network, PBB VPLS interworking, and IPv6 BGP/MPLS VPNs. In addition, Ixia’s newly acquired IxN2X product line was used to test Synchronous Ethernet in a mobile backhaul network.
"Ixia's participation plays an important role in the success of our Multi-Vendor Interoperability Event," said Carsten Rossenhoevel, managing director of EANTC. "Ixia has a long and successful history of providing leadership and fostering the development of MPLS and Carrier Ethernet, having supported each of our interoperability events since 2001. Their performance during this test event exceeded our expectations."
Over the past ten years, MPLS has become a technology of vital importance in carrier networking. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) continues to expand the MPLS protocol suite and its associated protocol families to engender new and better means of processing packets through the MPLS network cloud. The demonstration at the event explores many real-world use cases, and tests interoperability between several vendors’ devices.
"Ixia is dedicated to providing excellent Carrier Ethernet testing solutions through our award-winning IxNetwork application, as well as the newly acquired IxN2X product line,” said Atul Bhatnagar, President and CEO of Ixia. "Working with EANTC to validate several vendors’ implementation of the latest MPLS standards and features further demonstrates Ixia’s commitment to the service provider market.”
Since starting in 1999, MPLS & Ethernet World Congress has closely tracked the development of Internet broadband technologies and provided a forum for vendors, providers, and other content developers to meet and discuss future innovations and directions. Ixia, working with EANTC, assists in the process by providing testing solutions that not only push carrier devices to their limits, but validate conformance to standards.
