IntraLase Names Richard Nye VP Operations

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 9, 2005--IntraLase Corp. (Nasdaq:ILSE) today announced it has named Richard Nye Vice President of Operations. Nye will be responsible for laser and patient interface manufacturing, global supply-chain management, producibility engineering and facilities. Nye will report to Charline Gauthier, executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Nye has more than 20 years of manufacturing experience, principally in the medical device industry, where he developed the skills to apply world-class manufacturing principles and teamwork to manufacturing and supply-chain management. He has a proven track record in the areas of lean manufacturing, process improvement and project management.

Nye joins IntraLase from Tyco Healthcare's Kendall division where, as a manufacturing vice president for this division with annual sales of $576 million, he was directly responsible for nine manufacturing sites and 3,100 employees in five countries. Before that, he held several positions in manufacturing with Mallinckrodt Inc., which was acquired by Tyco Healthcare in 2001.
Nye earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan Technological University and a master's in business from Washington University in St. Louis.
