Intermec Introduces INcontrol Managed Services Portfolio

Intermec, Inc. (NYSE:IN) today announced the launch of a new managed services portfolio – INcontrolTM, enabling greater visibility and proactive tracking of customer’s mobile devices. INcontrol is Intermec’s managed services portfolio which delivers flexible, integrated mobile device and wireless network management services via a hosted web based tool set to shift the day to day task of management and troubleshooting of mobile devices and WLAN/ WWAN infrastructures to Intermec or one of its qualified PartnerNet members’ technical experts, allowing customers to efficiently track assets, secure network investments and achieve a lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

With three integrated offerings – INview, INsync and INcommand – INcontrol’s distinct service levels offer enterprises diverse support options:

  • INview: a basic device management option offering device inventory, including monitoring of device status and serial numbers, asset reports and telephone technical support
  • INsync: a robust device management option offering which includes INview services plus proactive monitoring, remote troubleshooting, device statistics and management, real-time information on battery life, power status and customized email and SMS alerts
  • INcommand: a full wireless network management option which includes INsync services plus monitoring of WLAN and/or WWAN status and signal strength, network troubleshooting and printer tracking, as well as monitoring of WWAN data usage, SMS, email and phone history

"The next-generation of managed service models are a response to the increased need for in-depth visibility into the mobile workforce, as enterprises look to improve operational efficiency and raise overall output,” said Stephen Drake, Program VP, IDC Research. "By shifting real-time monitoring and remote trouble-shooting to the experts, businesses are able to analyze their overall efficiency in a way not possible before.”

INcontrol is designed to accommodate diverse customer specifications, and is accessible anytime via a secure web browser. The platform helps enterprises to avoid downtime through access to both standardized and custom asset reports, allowing IT managers to examine the current state, location and utilization of mobile investments. INcontrol also promotes the protection of vital business data, as devices can be remotely wiped if lost or if they have not checked into the network within a specified period of time.

"INcontrol leverages Intermec’s proven technology and services expertise to offer maximum efficiency for enterprise mobility, increasing uptime to drive lower TCO thus achieving a higher overall ROI,” said Larry Klimczyk, VP of Global Solutions at Intermec. "By providing the ability to shift day-to-day management activities to Intermec, INcontrol allows companies to focus on their core competencies, increasing operational productivity and efficiency. INcontrol is another innovation for our PartnerNet members, helping them deliver a more comprehensive solution for our customers.”

INcontrol will be available to customers through Intermec PartnerNet members in North America and Mexico, with plans for expansion in early 2011.
