IMCCA Announces Phil Keenan from Polycom to Become Chairman of Leading
Business Editors/High-Tech Writers
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 2005--The Interactive Multimedia & Collaborative Communications Alliance (IMCCA), the leading non-profit association for the multimedia and collaboration communications industries, today announced Phil Keenan, senior vice president and general manager of the Network Systems Division of Polycom, Inc. (Nasdaq:PLCM) will become chairman of the group. He assumes the position from industry analyst Dr. S. Ann Earon who has been chair of the IMCCA for the past six years and will remain on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Association.
The IMCCA has been in existence for the past six years and is the only non-profit industry association whose membership, of more than 2,000, consists of both end-users and vendors. The IMCCA Board is a "who's who" in the collaborative communications industry from vendors such as Polycom, Sony, ClearOne, ACT Teleconferencing and VAPPS; to channel members and service providers such as Wire One Communications, Review Video and SBC; to customer organizations such as Boston University School of Medicine, the University of Wisconsin and The Virginia Department of Information Technology.
"The IMCCA has grown dramatically over its history and is now expanding its influence to Asia and Europe," said Carol Zelkin, Executive Director of the IMCCA. "This is largely the result of a shift that is occurring in communications as voice, video, web and data calls are converged onto the Internet Protocol network. The result of these new rich media calls is collaborative communications, which organizations are seeing as a strategic advantage in raising productivity, enhancing relationships and enabling faster decision making. Collaborative communications is at the tipping point of going mainstream in all markets and applications from distance learning and education to telemedicine and telejustice to enterprises and small- and medium-sized businesses."
Added Zelkin, "We are delighted to welcome Phil Keenan as chairperson of the IMCCA. He is an industry veteran with a valuable perspective from Polycom, the market leader, on the communications convergence. I also want to personally thank Ann Earon for her vision and dedication in bringing the IMCCA to where it is today. I look forward to her continued support as a board member."
"I'm honored to be asked to lead such a vital association for our industry," said Phil Keenan. "Our industry is at a critical juncture as multimedia and collaborative communications literally change the way we work and learn. I've been in this industry for 12 years, but this has to be the most gratifying time for all of us. I look forward to continuing to grow our market and promoting its best practices with the help of the IMCCA Board and our members."
