'Hunger Games' Studio Lions Gate In Merger Talks: Report

(RTTNews) - Lions Gate Entertainment (LGF), the film studio behind the "Hunger Games" franchise, is reportedly in talks to merge with cable movie network Starz.

According to the LA Times, discussions of a possible combination have reached advanced stages. The paper, citing an unnamed source, said high-level talks have taken place over the past several months and have included a number of structures.

The deal is not completed, however, with issues such as valuation presenting a stumbling block, the LA Times said.

Besides the "Hunger Games" franchise, which has been its most highest-grossing set of films, Lions Gate has distributed such movies as "The Expendables" and "Fahrenheit 9/11."
