Homeless Man Ill-Treated Outside Tim Hortons Happy With Public Response

(RTTNews) - A homeless man who was drenched by an employee of Tim Hortons franchise in Vancouver says he is glad that so many people raised their voice and cared about the incident.

Grant Faithful, a homeless man, was sleeping with his dog outside a Tim Hortons franchise last Sunday when an employee of the outlet came out with a bucket of water and drenched him and his blankets in order to make him move.

People who witnessed the incident posted it on social media which then went viral on the Facebook and Twitter. Thousands of users shared posts that urged customers to boycott the outlet.

This online media uproar forced the Canadian restaurant chain to issue an apology. The company said it has launched an internal investigation on the incident.

The company said the store owner will personally apologize to Grant Faithful and make a donation to Belkin House, a local Vancouver shelter.

Grant Faithful says he has not yet received a personal apology from the company, however, the public response itself means a lot.

"It's a step in the right direction, that's for sure. It's good to know that people actually do pay attention to this stuff. They care," Faithful told to CTV Vancouver on Monday.
