GoPro To Launch Roku Channel

(RTTNews) - Wearable camera maker GoPro, Inc. (GPRO) said Thursday that it will launch a GoPro Channel on the Roku streaming platform this spring.

The GoPro streaming channel on Roku will feature playlists with contents from "Deep Sea" to "Full Throttle", favorite videos and information on GoPro products that were used to "get the shot".

The content that will be aired on the GoPro channel for the Roku platform will be similar to the GoPro Channel on YouTube.

The Roku deal will expand the list of GoPro's distribution partners, which include Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) Xbox, LG and Virgin America.

"The GoPro channel will make it simple for Roku customers to watch GoPro originally-produced and "best of" user-generated content on their televisions at home. We are excited to bring the world of GoPro to Roku customers as they are one of the most engaged customer bases when it comes to the amount of streaming content they view," said Adam Dornbusch, Head of Programming at GoPro.

GoPro, founded by surfer-turned entrepreneur Nicholas Woodman, went public in June last year. The company makes small high-definition video cameras that can be mounted on adventurers, like sky divers, cyclists and skiers, to record their extreme action and skills. The company continues to diversify beyond its traditional camera sales.

GoPro shares are currently trading at $53.82, up $1.95 or 3.76%.
