Google CFO Patrick Pichette To Retire

(RTTNews) - Internet giant Google Inc. (GOOG, GOOGL) said Tuesday that its Chief Financial Officer, Patrick Pichette, plans to retire after serving nearly seven years in that position.

No effective date of retirement has been determined for Patrick, who plans to assist in the search for a new CFO and ensure an orderly transition, which the Mountain View, California-based company expects will occur within the next six months.

Pichette joined Google as CFO in August 2008, replacing George Reyes. Before joining Google, Pichette was working as president of operations at Bell Canada. During his seven year stint at the Canadian telecommunications company, he had also served as its finance chief.

In a post on Google+, Pichette said he will be retiring from Google to spend more time with his family. Pichette said the retirement idea actually came from Tamar, his wife of 25 years, when the couple was climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa last fall.

"In the end, life is wonderful, but nonetheless a series of trade offs, especially between business/professional endeavours and family/community. And thankfully, I feel I'm at a point in my life where I no longer have to have to make such tough choices anymore. And for that I am truly grateful. Carpe Diem," Patrick wrote in the post.
