Gold Fields Q3 Profit Plummets - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Gold Fields Ltd. (GFI) posted a sharp plunge in third-quarter net earnings from continuing operations to $9 million, from $122 million in the prior-year quarter. In Rand terms, net earnings on continuing operations for the recent quarter totaled R63 million, compared with R997 million in the September 2012 quarter.

In the September 2013 quarter, headline earnings amounted to $8 million, or $0.01 per share, and normalised earnings were $12 million, or $0.02 per share.

On an IFRS basis, quarterly revenue of $683.3 million, was lower than restated $861.9 million reported a year earlier. At 496,000 ounces, production for the September quarter was 10 percent higher than the 451,000 ounces reported in the June quarter.
