General Mills Launches New Fiber One® 80 Calories Cereal

Breakfast just became tastier for dieters. General Mills introduces Fiber One 80 Calories cereal, a surprisingly delicious cereal that is 80 calories per serving. After years of helping Americans boost their fiber intake, it was natural for Fiber One to lead the way in developing another product that makes fiber taste great.

"When people are trying to lose weight, they often struggle to find diet-friendly foods that still taste good and fill them up,” said Liz Mascolo, marketing manager for Fiber One. "The new Fiber One 80 Calories cereal delivers on those dieting necessities – so much so that we expect dieters will be excited to share it with friends.”

Every honey-flavored, 80 calorie serving of the new cereal provides 10 grams of fiber, or 40 percent of the Daily Value of fiber. According to the 2010 Dietary Guidelines, 25-38 grams are recommended daily.

"Fiber is a key element in maintaining overall health, and it can help with weight management by curbing hunger,” said Kristin Harris, General Mills Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition. "Moreover, fiber also aids in digestive health by promoting regularity.”

Fiber One 80 Calories cereal is made with insoluble and soluble fiber, commonly found in whole grain products. Fiber One 80 Calories cereal also offers 40 percent of the Daily Value of calcium and 25 percent of the Daily Value of vitamins and minerals including iron, vitamins B1, B2, and B6 (B12 is at 15 percent), Folic Acid and Zinc.

Fiber One 80 Calories cereal is available in grocers’ cereal aisles nationwide for a suggested retail price of $4.49. To learn more about Fiber One 80 Calories cereal, visit www.FiberOne.com.
