Frontier Communications Slips To Loss

(RTTNews) - Frontier Communications Corp (FTR), a provider of voice, data and video services, on Tuesday reported first-quarter net loss of $51 million or $0.05 per share compared with a profit of $39 million or $0.04 per share last year.

Excluding acquisition related interest expense and other items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.02 per share compared with $0.05 per share a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter were $1.37 billion compared with $1.15 billion in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.04 per share on revenues of $1.39 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Operating expenses rose to $1.21 billion from $928 million a year ago, and interest expense climbed to $245 million from $171 million.
