Freescale Wireless Developer Network Names 2006 Partner Award Recipients

Recognizing outstanding partners in its Wireless DeveloperNetwork, Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE:FSL) (NYSE:FSL.B) acknowledgedsix distinguished companies for their exceptional contributions to theprogram. Announced at the company's annual technology forum inOrlando, Fla., Freescale's Wireless Developer Network chose partnerswho demonstrated expertise in the design of software, hardware andZigBee(TM) technologies. Additionally, partners illustrating acommitment to strengthen and grow their Freescale business werehonored for outstanding consultancy, support and services.

"The Wireless Developer Network consists of many industry leadingpartners, and the companies we recognized for 2006 have demonstratedan exceptional level of technology expertise, commitment to serviceand support to Freescale and our customers," said Monica Hamilton,director of the Wireless Developer Network for Freescale. Formed in 2004, over 150 companies have joined Freescale'sWireless Developer Network, which aims at partnering with the highestcaliber of technology partners to deliver robust pre-validatedreference designs. Members gain early access to Freescale platformsand are provided extensive product information, services, support andco-marketing activities to speed their Freescale-based products tomarket.

Winning partners help accelerate design time, reduce cost

Freescale recognized Microcross, a global provider of commercialopen source software development tools and Linux(R) platforms, asPartner of the Year. Over the last year, Microcross providedworld-class support services for Freescale's i.MX LITEKIT. The i.MXLITEKIT is a small-form-factor board bundled with Microcross's GNUX-Tools and GX-Linux open source tools that enables customers anddevelopers to accelerate their development with i.MXL and i.MX21applications processors.

San Juan Software, named Freescale's ZigBee Partner of the Year,provides products, training and services to original equipmentmanufacturers (OEMs). San Juan Software developed an extensive ZigBeeprotocol training curriculum based on Freescale's software andhardware in order to promote the widespread adoption of the IEEE(R)802.15.4 and ZigBee standard for wireless sensor networks.

Partner Software Solution of the Year was awarded to IntrinsycSoftware, a mobility software and services company that is creator andlicensor of Soleus(TM), the world's first feature phone softwareplatform based on Microsoft(R) Windows(TM) CE. Intrinsyc workedclosely with Freescale to integrate Soleus with the i.MX31 multimediaapplications processor to create a comprehensive handset developmentplatform that offers mobile phone manufacturers and network operatorsa low-risk, cost-effective and faster way to build handsets using thei.MX31.

The Hardware Solution of the Year award went to GDA Technologies.GDA Technologies Inc., a leading Electronic Design Services (EDS) andSilicon Intellectual Property (SIP) solution provider, developed amodular PDA phone reference design based on Freescale's i.MX31multimedia application processor. The GDA design provides a completeset of video display and wireless subsystems that allow it to convertfrom a mid-level to a high-end feature phone.

Freescale honored Mentor Graphics for providing the best overallpartner support. A world leader in electronic hardware and softwaredesign solutions, Mentor worked closely with Freescale to deliver afull i.MX support package with its easy-to-use Nucleus(R) real-timeoperating system (RTOS) and the EDGE(TM) Tool Suite. Users of thesupport package can develop i.MX31 processor-based applicationsincluding video and audio media players, mobile gaming consoles andsmart phones.

Synchromesh Computing, a leading provider of benchmarking andsoftware development services, received the Independent Consultant ofthe Year award. Synchromesh provided benchmarking and softwarevalidation expertise for Freescale's i.MX applications processorfamily. Additionally, Synchromesh developed out-of-the-box i.MXvalidation programs for both development tools and middlewaresoftware. These programs provide a level of assurance to customersthat third party software for Freescale's i.MX applications processorsare tested and validated, resulting in a reduction in the time tomarket by weeks or even months.
