Florida Rock Industries, Inc.'s Board Elects Barbara Christie Johnston as Corporate Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Florida Rock Industries, Inc. (NYSE:FRK) today announcedthe election by its Board of Directors of Barbara Christie Johnston asCorporate Counsel and Corporate Secretary effective July 1, 2006.

Ms. Johnston joins Florida Rock from her practice with the lawfirm of McGuireWoods LLP, where she was a partner and served in aleadership role on the firm's Board of Partners. At that firm of morethan 750 lawyers and fifteen offices worldwide, her national corporatepractice included the areas of mergers and acquisitions, generalcorporate law and transactions, and domestic and internationalbusiness law.

Ms. Johnston received a Bachelor's degree in history, graduatingwith high honors from the University of Florida. Her law degree isalso from the University of Florida, where she graduated with honors.Upon graduation, Ms. Johnston served as a federal district court lawclerk to the Honorable Susan H. Black, former U.S. District CourtJudge for the Middle District of Florida and current 11th U.S. CircuitCourt of Appeals Judge.

Ms. Johnston resides in Jacksonville with her husband, attorneyCharles Johnston, and their two sons. Their oldest son, David, attendsthe College of Charleston, and Daniel is a student at Episcopal HighSchool.
