Fastweb Celebrates its 15th Anniversary with a $15,000 Scholarship Giveaway
Fastweb, owned by Monster.com®, the leading job matching engine and flagship brand of Monster Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: MWW) celebrates its 15th anniversary as the leading online scholarship destination this Saturday, May 22. In celebration of this milestone, and in recognition of the fact that in a down economy students need more financial assistance than ever, Fastweb is conducting a $15,000 scholarship contest.
Since its launch in 1995, Fastweb has benefitted more than 50 million students as they look for way to pay for college*. Free for all students, Fastweb offers personalized scholarship matches, internship and entry-level job opportunities, and financial aid advice at one convenient, online location. Launched as the first free scholarship matching site, Fastweb began with servicing 270 students, and to date has assisted over 50 million members with expert financial aid advice.
"In today’s economy, as families struggle to find money to pay the bills – let alone pay for college – Fastweb is proud to be a leading source of scholarship and financial aid information for educators, parents and students alike,” said Mark Kantrowitz, publisher of Fastweb. "Commemorating fifteen years of scholarship expertise, we could think of no better way to celebrate than by awarding a deserving student some much-needed financial relief.”
"We and other private scholarship providers have markedly increased scholarship content to Fastweb over the past 15 years, and the impact on students has been fantastic,” noted Patricia Ross, vice president of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, Inc. "Fastweb set the benchmark for students, parents and educators by aggregating a vast amount of up-to-date scholarship and financial aid information all in one place, and its benefits are significant.”
To celebrate its 15th anniversary, Fastweb is awarding one student a $15,000 scholarship in an online contest. Running May 21 through June 20, Fastweb members are encouraged to help mark this milestone by submitting a photo that incorporates the Fastweb logo in a creative way. Voting is open to all registered users and Fastweb will select a winner from the top ten vote getters. The winner of the $15,000 scholarship will be announced in early July. More than 1.5 million scholarships, updated daily, are currently listed on Fastweb, and one in three college-bound seniors visits the site looking for financial assistance for school.
