Everest Re Group Q4 Profit Surges

(RTTNews) - Everest Re Group Ltd. (RE) Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income attributable to the company of $364.6 million or $7.54 per share, compared to $58.8 million or $1.13 per share last year.

After-tax operating income available to common shareholders, excluding realized capital gains and losses, was $303.4 million or $6.28 per share, compared to $41.7 million or $0.80 per share last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $4.97 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimate usually exclude one-time items.

Total revenues for the quarter grew to $1.52 billion from $1.27 billion last year. Premiums earned rose to $1.29 billion from $1.12 billion last year. Analysts estimated revenues of $1.25 billion for the quarter.
