    Business Editors/Education Editors

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 2005--PLATO(R) Learning, Inc. (NASDAQ:TUTR), a leading provider of K-adult computer-based and e-learning solutions, announced a $500,000 first quarter FY2005 agreement with rural Pennsylvania's DuBois Area School District to provide PLATO(R) Instructional Solutions to their 4,728 K-12 students.
"We are determined to provide our students with a state-of-the-art education. As a rural district, we do not want our students' educational experiences defined by where they live," said Sharon Kirk, superintendent of schools, DuBois Area School District. "PLATO Learning gives us the ability to use a technology-based program to provide our students with expanded access to cutting-edge programs. We have extraordinary teachers, and by supplying them with PLATO Instructional Solutions, we are supplying them with another high-quality tool that expands the academic reach we offer our students."
PLATO Instructional Solutions will be used in a variety of applications across the district including virtual schools, classrooms, home-based learning, individualized instruction, and alternative education. "We are encouraged to see districts maximize the benefits of educational technology by incorporating it across programs. The flexibility built into our solutions facilitate this diverse, districtwide implementation, and we are eager to provide students in this rural district with access to the same learning opportunities their peers receive in urban and suburban areas," said PLATO Learning President & CEO Mike Morache.
Under the agreement, DuBois Area School District will implement the full PLATO Learning K-12 instructional suite delivered via client-hosted PLATO(R) Web Learning Network, along with professional development to train their teachers to effectively integrate educational technology into the DuBois curriculum.
