Dressbarn To Close All 650 Stores In US
(RTTNews) - Dressbarn, the women's clothing chain, is winding down its operations and closing all 650 of its stores across the US.
Meanwhile, all Dressbarn stores are open and conducting business as usual, as is Dressbarn's ecommerce site. There are no current changes to Dressbarn's return, refund, or gift card policies.
The women's fashion store, founded more than 50 years ago, employs about 6,800 people.
Dressbarn's wind down is in line with Ascena Retail's, the parent company of Dressbarn, strategy to focus more on its most profitable brands. Ascena Retail Group, Inc. (ASNA) is a specialty retailer which owns brands like Ann Taylor, LOFT, Lou & Grey, Lane Bryant, Catherines, Cacique and Justice.
Steven Taylor, Chief Financial Officer of Dressbarn, said, "For more than 50 years, Dressbarn has served women's fashion needs, and we thank all of our dedicated associates for their commitment to Dressbarn and our valued customers."
"This decision was difficult, but necessary, as the Dressbarn chain has not been operating at an acceptable level of profitability in today's retail environment."
