Sales up by 15 per cent: Schaltbau Group increases growth rate in 2015
Munich, 19 January 2016 - According to preliminary figures, the Schaltbau
Group recorded sales growth of a good 15 per cent, exceeding the EUR 495
million mark in fiscal year 2015 and thus securing its position as
third-largest supplier of systems and components in the field of
transportation technology and industry worldwide. Around 46 per cent of the
EUR 67 million increase in sales was attributable to organic growth and the
remainder to contributions from the first-time consolidated SPII and RDS as
well as the full-year inclusion of ALTE and RAWAG. The spain-based Albatros
Group, in which Schaltbau gained a majority holding at the year-end,
generated sales in the region of EUR 30 million, although not yet included
in Group figures. At around EUR 136 million, fourth-quarter sales surpassed
the previous year's figure by more than 18 per cent.
All of the Group's segments contributed towards this growth. The Mobile Transportation Technology segment achieved around 18 per cent growth and was up on the previous year, even after adjustment for consolidation effects. Sales for the Stationary Transportation Technology segment grew by 3 per cent, where the continued low demand for railway crossing systems was more than compensated by a remarkable increase in business volume with Brake Systems. In percentage terms, the Components segment contributed the highest sales growth (27 per cent), driven by the first-time consolidation of SPII and significantly higher volumes in China.
Order intake for the Schaltbau Group climbed by a good 13 per cent and, at EUR 508 million, surpassed the EUR 500 million mark for the first time in the Group's history. Primary contributors were ALTE and RAWAG in the Mobile Transportation Technology segment, followed by the Brake Systems business field and a significant rise in order intake for Components. Adjusted for the order intake of platform screen doors, which could not yet be reflected in sales, the field of safety and railway signal equipment matched the previous year's figure. In the fourth quarter, the Schaltbau Group secured new orders worth approximately EUR 116 million (Q4 2014: EUR 111.3 million).
"Our order book figures, which have have continued to improve with the inclusion of Albatros, SPII and RDS, form an excellent basis for remaining firmly on track for further growth," emphasised Dr Jürgen Cammann, Spokesman of the Executive Board of Schaltbau Holding AG. "Our expanded portfolio enables us to give the right response to the ever-growing requirements of our customers in terms of passenger convenience, safety and communication-enabled systems."
With annual sales approaching EUR 500 million and over 3,000 employees, the Schaltbau Group is a leading supplier of components and systems in the field of transportation technology and the capital goods industry. The companies of the Schaltbau Group supply complete level crossing systems, train formation and signal technology, door and boarding systems for buses, trains and commercial vehicles, sanitary systems and interior fittings for railway vehicles, industrial brakes for container cranes and wind turbines and also high- and low-voltage components for rolling stock as well as for other fields of application.
Its innovative and customer-oriented products make Schaltbau a key business partner for a variety of industrial sectors, in particular transportation technology.
