The Berlin-based CINEMEDIA AG is expanding its operations to include "media accessibility" to their business and has founded the "CINEMEDIA audiovision".

Berlin, 11.12.2015 - The Berlin-based CINEMEDIA AG (ISIN: DE000A1YDEE4) has begun its expansion into the ever growing area of accessible media. It will now be offering their services in the field of subtitling and audiodescription mainly for cinema and television under the name "CINEMEDIA audiovision". This development originates in a market which has so far received only little attention: There are more than 55 million people with some form of hearing impairment in the European Union. In Germany the number amounts to more than 13 million hearing impaired and approximately 80,000 deaf people. "The progress of technology goes hand in hand with new developments which allow the visually and hearing impaired to participate in audiovisual media services to a higher degree", explains Marcus Dröscher, CEO of CINEMEDIA AG.

Building on expertise in professional language adaptation from the long-established subsidiary "Berliner Synchron", an experienced and highly skilled team could be acquired for CINEMEDIA audiovision. Some first major orders have already been secured. Synergies are maximized by an extensive customer base and the joint use of resources. Marcus Dröscher has high expectations from this new area of business: "Both the sales performance and market position of CINEMEDIA AG are expected to pick up markedly in the medium term."
