Cyberonics Q3 Adj. Profit Tops View - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Cyberonics Inc. (CYBX) Thursday posted third-quarter net income of $16.5 million or $0.62 per share, up from $13.9 million or $0.51 per share in the comparable quarter last year.

Excluding certain items, the group earned $0.59 per share. On average, 10 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.57 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Quarterly sales amounted to $72.07 million, up 9% from $68.19 million reported last year. International sales showed consistent growth, with unit sales increasing by 18 percent and total sales rising by 18 percent on a constant currency basis. Wall Street expected revenues of $72.02 million.

Cyberonics is reaffirming the fiscal 2015 guidance provided in its earnings release dated November 20, 2014, despite the significant currency headwinds affecting international sales. Operating income, net income and earnings per share in fiscal 2015 will be impacted by the transaction costs related to the expected merger with Sorin S.p.A.
