COVID-19: CDN-NDG Reaches Out to Cultural Communities and Vulnerable People
MONTRÉAL, March 31, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - The borough of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce is taking exceptional measures to communicate with cultural communities and vulnerable people, as the number of COVID-19 cases increases among these groups. These initiatives aim to inform the various communities within the population of the services available during these difficult times.
Our teams have created new communication tools for sharing information with different communities. These tools will take various forms and will use pictograms to facilitate comprehension. Beginning tomorrow, large posters will be installed near grocery stores and pharmacies particularly frequented by cultural communities and a newsletter will be sent out periodically, starting this afternoon, based on the needs.
All of these communication tools will be available in seven languages: French, English, Farsi, Mandarin, Tagalog, Vietnamese and Yiddish. Other languages may be added based on the needs of different communities. These communications will remind people of hygiene measures, tell them what they can do to protect themselves and others, and inform them about assistance programs and services offered by the borough's community organizations.
Merchants who are still active in their communities will also be asked to help. They will receive posters to display on hygiene measures for limiting the spread of COVID-19 and multilingual leaflets to distribute to customers.
The borough of CDN-NDG wants to reassure the population that it is following the situation closely and is focused on the health and wellbeing of its residents.
