Cooper Companies Q1 Profit Tops Estimate; Revenue Falls Short

(RTTNews) - Cooper Companies, Inc. (COO) reported net income for the first quarter of $61.2 million or $1.25 per share, compared to $71.8 million or $1.47 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Excluding items, adjusted net income for the first quarter was $85.8 million or $1.75 per share, compared to $77.6 million or $1.58 per share in the prior year quarter.

Revenue for the first quarter increased 10% year-over-year to $445.17 million, with CooperVision revenue up 13% and CooperSurgical revenue down 4%.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $1.54 per share on revenue of $451.90 million for the first quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For the fiscal year 2015, the company now forecasts revenue of $1.858 billion to $1.910 billion and adjusted earnings of $7.40 to $7.70 per share. Previously, the company forecast revenue of $1.900 billion to $1.960 billion and adjusted earnings of $7.30 to $7.70 per share.

Analysts currently expect the company to earn $7.43 per share on revenue of $1.92 billion for the fiscal year 2015.
