Cigna Corp. Q3 Profit Falls 15%

(RTTNews) - Cigna Corp. (CI) released earnings for third quarter that retreated from last year.

The company said its bottom line fell to $503 million, or $1.94 per share. This was lower than $593 million, or $2.28 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.91 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 5.2% to $9.88 billion. This was up from $9.39 billion last year.
