Chesapeake Utilities Q1 Net Income Increases - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Chesapeake Utilities Corp. (CPK) said first-quarter net income increased to $17.68 million from $14.87 million in the previous year. Earnings per share rose to $1.82 from $1.54.

On average, four analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $1.56 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items. Total operating revenues increased to $186.34 million from $140.73 million in the prior year. Michael McMasters, President and CEO of Chesapeake Utilities, said, ''We begin 2014 with another great quarter of financial results and growth. Our first quarter results reflect positive contributions from natural gas service expansions and acquisitions completed in 2013, as well as additional gross margin generated from colder temperatures."
