Charles River Associates (CRA) Strengthens Capabilities in Competition, Energy & Environment, Global Industrial Consulting, Intellectual Property, and Auctions & Competitive Bidding

Charles River Associates (NASDAQ: CRAI), a worldwide leader in providing management, economic, and financial consulting services, today announced that it has strengthened its Antitrust & Competition Economics, Energy & Environment, Global Industrial Consulting, and Intellectual Property practices with the addition of five new vice presidents – Lilla Csorgo, Robert Robinson, Jim Peters, Jonathon Wright, and Maureen Loftus. CRA also announced that Benny Moldovanu has become a senior consultant to the Auctions & Competitive Bidding practice.

Antitrust & Competition Economics

Lilla Csorgo has extensive competition policy experience in the public and private sectors having conducted analyses in industries including software, telecommunications, broadcasting, movie exhibition and distribution, retail, banking, and media. Dr. Csorgo had previously worked for CRA and before returning, she spent nearly five years gaining regulatory experience working with various governmental regulatory agencies in Canada. Prior to her rejoining CRA, Dr. Csorgo was Special Economic Advisor to the Commissioner of the Canadian Competition Bureau. She also served as the Economist Member of the Canadian Competition Tribunal where she adjudicated the civil provisions of the Canadian Competition Act. Dr. Csorgo has assisted in developing Thai competition law enforcement guidelines, worked on EU and US antitrust cases, conducted World Bank and OECD workshops, and lectured on microeconomics and transition economies. She obtained PhD and MA degrees in Economics from the University of Toronto, and a BA degree in Economics from McGill University. Dr. Csorgo is based in CRA’s Toronto office.

Energy & Environment

Robert Robinson has 20 years of consulting experience with the past 16 years dedicated to the utility vertical market space. He has extensive experience in smart grid and has led numerous strategy, market, and business case assessments involving metering, distribution automation, demand response, distributed energy resources, and storage and vehicle electrification. His current focus is on grid commercialization, pricing, and the future of retail markets. He has also advised utilities on a range of business strategy challenges, including growth, deregulation, transactions / merger integrations, operations reviews, value realization programs, systems transformations, and financial / performance management improvement. He joins CRA from Booz & Company, where he led US Utility Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Services, and was previously a partner at Deloitte Consulting. He holds an MBA degree from the University of Michigan and a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University. Mr. Robinson is based in CRA’s Chicago office.

Global Industrial Consulting

Jim Peters has extensive experience in business strategy and performance improvement, with more than 20 years in the energy industry and chemical sector helping companies reposition underperforming businesses and develop business plans and growth strategies. Prior to joining CRA, Mr. Peters was a partner at AlixPartners LLP where he led marketing and delivery efforts in the hi-tech, petroleum/petrochemical, and working capital management arenas. Prior to that, he was a partner with McKinsey & Company, Inc., serving petrochemical, energy, and logistics services clients on issues of performance improvement, business portfolio realignment, and product/market positioning. Mr. Peters holds an MBA degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia. He is based in CRA’s New York office.

Jonathon Wright has extensive experience as an economist, management consultant, and corporate executive. He rejoins CRA after serving as a senior vice president and president of the nylon business at Solutia Inc. Jonathon had originally joined CRA as part of CRA’s acquisition of Arthur D. Little’s chemicals and energy practice. Since rejoining CRA, he is focused on business development and client relationship activities in the North American and Middle East regions. Before becoming a consultant, Jonathon headed pricing and economic regulation for British Gas, and he was an economist at the Office of the Water Industry Regulator in the United Kingdom. He has also lectured at universities in the United Kingdom about economic development in developing economies. Mr. Wright holds a BA degree in Economics from the City of London Polytechnic and a MSc degree in Economics from Reading University.

Intellectual Property

Maureen Loftus provides clients with financial and economic consulting support in litigation and investigation matters in a variety of industries including the entertainment, consumer products, insurance, telecommunications, manufacturing, and financial services sectors. She specializes in developing damages models and valuing businesses and has provided expert testimony in cases involving breach of contract, patent infringement and trademark damages, results of fraud and forensic investigations, trade secret misappropriation, and liquidated damages. Prior to joining CRA, she was a managing director with Huron Consulting Group. She was also previously a partner at Deloitte & Touche and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Ms. Loftus is a CPA in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, and Montana, and holds a BS degree in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She is based in CRA’s New York office.

Auctions & Competitive Bidding

Benny Moldovanu has expertise in auction design for large governmental projects, the development of Internet-based auction procedures for B2B e-commerce firms, and the analysis of procurement mechanisms for large industrial firms. Dr. Moldovanu has been at the University of Bonn since 2002 and held visiting positions at the University of Michigan, Northwestern University, Yale University, and University College, London. Dr. Moldovanu has published widely in professional journals and served as associate editor of Econometrica, Journal of Economic Theory, and Games and Economic Behavior. He is a fellow of the Econometric Society and a recipient of the Max Planck Research Award. He holds a PhD degree in Economics from the University of Bonn, and MSc and BSc degrees in Mathematics from Hebrew University Jerusalem.
