Cal-Maine Foods Q3 Profit Rises, Yet Misses Estimate - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Cal-Maine Foods Inc (CALM), a producer of shell eggs, Monday reported third-quarter net income of $50.9 million or $1.05 per share, compared to $42.9 million or $0.89 per share in the comparable quarter last year. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $1.10 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net sales for the latest third quarter were $437.36 million, compared with $395.52 million in the prior year.

The company sold 283.03 million eggs during the quarter, up from 268.94 million eggs last year. Net average selling price per dozen was about $1.50, up from $1.42 a year ago.

For the third quarter of fiscal 2015, Cal-Maine Foods will pay a cash dividend of approximately $0.350 per share to holders of its common and Class A common stock. The dividend is payable May 14, 2015, to shareholders of record on April 29, 2015.
