BearingPoint, Forbes Give Fifth Compass Award to Linde's Wolfgang Reitzle
PARIS, June 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BearingPoint, Inc. , one of the world's largest business consulting and systems integration firms, along with Forbes magazine, today awarded its fifth Compass Award for Strategic Direction to Professor Dr. Wolfgang Reitzle, Chief Executive Officer of Linde AG.
The presentation was made during the Second Annual Forbes European CEO Forum, held in Paris on June 27 - 28, 2005.
As CEO of Linde, Reitzle demonstrated his focus on operating performance and profitability with the decision to sell the company's traditional Refrigeration Technology division and focus on Linde's successful Industrial Gases and Engineering and Material Handling, business units. Linde was built 126 years ago by creating the first modern refrigeration machine. Reitzle was credited for his realization that while refrigeration technologies were the roots of the company, they did not represent Linde's future.
"Wolfgang Reitzle is one of the leading visionaries in business and with this award we recognize his outstanding career achievements," said Harry You, CEO, BearingPoint. "Wolfgang has established himself as a pioneer and innovator in the gas and engineering industry, and we hope this award in some small way embellishes Wolfgang's outstanding record."
The BearingPoint / Forbes Compass Award for Strategic Direction is presented to individuals who, driven by innovation and foresight, have distinguished themselves by outstanding contributions to their enterprises. The recipients are acknowledged for strategic vision and transforming concepts into actions that empowered both individual and organizational success. Sumner Redstone, Chairman & CEO of Viacom, received the inaugural Compass award in 2004. Past recipients also include Tyco International Chairman and CEO Ed Breen and Doreen A. Toben, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Verizon Communications.
